As humans we love to sleep, we spend around a third of our lives in bed! However, we don’t spend even a fraction of time considering how to keep our mattresses clean, because BORING! As gross as it sounds, while we sleep, we produce more bodily odours through sweat and drool (ew!) and these odours will seep into our mattresses over time.
It is so important to keep your mattress clean as poor hygiene levels can have negative effects on your sleeping. There are some simple things you can do to not wake up on the wrong side of the bed! Follow these steps and you will be getting the best, most hygienic sleep you have had in ages!
Try and keep to the following routine:
Change your bed clothes regularly (bit obvious right?). At least once or twice a week is recommended to keep your sleeping den in good condition. Admit it, when was the last time you changed your sheets? Finish reading this article then go change them!
Vacuum your mattress once a month, this helps remove dead skin (ew again!) and will keep bad odours from sinking into your mattress.
Flip your mattress every 6 months. Avoid one sided deterioration and keep it fresh by swapping your mattress regularly. You’ll get more out of that lovely mattress!
Now, we all know that feeling of putting your bed clothes in the wash and forgetting to put them back on the bed until you are soo ready for bed! But don’t let that put you off. Just take 10 minutes to do this chore and it will save you lots of time, money, and sleep in the future!
