Mould in your home is nothing to be ashamed of, we all have come across it at some point. If left untreated it can be extremely harmful to our health. Don’t panic, it can be fixed and there are ways to prevent mould from coming back in the future!

How to remove mould from walls and other surfaces.
You can remove mould by using a good mould & mildew remover spray. These are so easy to use: simply spray, leave and then wipe clean to remove the mould from the surface, no need to scrub! Ensure that you are using this in a well ventilated area and avoid inhalation. You can wear a face mask and have your windows wide open to help reduce the risk of inhalation. Gloves are also essential when removing mould as they protect your skin from any harmful chemicals.

How to get mould out of fabric
Mould can also form on fabric, so what’s the best way to remove it? Ensure that you always read the label of your item as this will determine what you can and can’t use. Some ways of removing mould can bleach the fabric meaning it will fade or even strip the colour from the fabric.
The safest way to remove mould from fabric is by using White Distilled Vinegar as it will not bleach your clothes. To use simply spray onto the fabric and leave to sit for an hour, then wash as normal in the washing machine.
You can also use a stain remover to remove mould from fabrics. Ensure that you are using the correct one as some are for white fabrics only! There are also stain removers out there which can remove mould from carpets.

How to prevent mould
Dehumidifiers are not only a lifesaver when it comes to preventing mould, but they are also very purse friendly! To use simply remove the plastic lid, peel back the foil wrapper and pop the plastic lid back on. Place the container in an area of your home where mould tends to form such as in your wardrobe, window sill or near the wall.
They tend to last around 3-6 weeks however you will see when you should replace them as they will be filled with water. Ensure that you remove of this water safely by disposing of it carefully.
