Can you hear that? It’s the sound of summer calling! That’s right, the sun is starting to hang around for more than a few fleeting moments, which means the holiday season is upon us! ‘Staycation’ is the word on everyone’s lips this year, so whether you’re heading to the sandy south coast or hitting up an adventurous hiking trail, planning what you are going to pack will make your holiday a little less stressful!
Once you have your outfits sorted and all your docs printed off, it’s time to tackle the health and beauty essentials! So you don’t forget a thing, we’ve put together a handy UK holiday checklist for you to use, including essentials items available at Savers this summer.
Beauty Basics
Depending on where you’re holidaying, you may need to bring your beauty basics along with you for the ride. Of course, some hotels or rental places will provide super-cute complimentary toiletries, but if you’re getting away for more than a few days, you’ll need to pack your own. If you have the luxury of space in the car, then by all means pack your usual bath-side bottles, but if you’re travelling by public transport or camping, for example, you’ll want to think more compact!
Decant your lotions and potions into a handy travel set, and never be without your fave shampoo or cleanser. Or, if you’re moving around regularly, you can always rely on a can of dry shampoo to keep your locks fresh between washes or switch your multi-step skincare routine to a cleanser and SPF moisturiser to save space.

Sun, We’re Ready for You
We all know the weather in the UK can be unpredictable, so it’s best to be prepared! Keep you and your family safe (and comfy) while in the sun this summer by stocking up on your sun creams and accessories, such as a handy reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and a handheld fan to keep you cool.
From our hardy Anti-Bac Wipes that will ensure your little patch of heaven is in tip-top shape, to the travel wash that will get your British budgie-smugglers fresh and ready for a dip in the not-so-tropical sea; Our glamping essentials will make the ‘are we there yet’ and ‘I need the toilet’ (just after the services) worth it.
Although a British summer day may bring glorious sun and birds singing in the trees, the evenings tend to get a bit chilly. Now for many of you who did not get your fire-starting badge at scouts, we have a great hack to ensure a perfect, warm fire. Be the envy of the campsite with our fire starters (not like Janet and John who are still trying to rub sticks together to warm up their dinner).
With all the buzz around packing for a holiday, it can be easy to let a few things slip off your radar, such as your summer health essentials. Whether you’re travelling solo, packing up to head away with friends, or you and the kids are making the most of the summer hols, it never hurts to keep the first aid basics close to hand, just in case!
Going off the beaten track? Then insect repellent is a must! Does summer mean the arrival of hayfever for you? Then don’t leave home without your hayfever wipes or allergy tablets. Are you planning on visiting all the best tourist attractions? Then a travel-friendly hand sanitiser should make the list!
Plasters (perfect for anything from scraped knees to walking boot blisters!)

Holiday in Comfort
Once you’ve got the basics mastered (change of clothes, toothbrush, SPF etc.), then you can move onto the little holiday perks that’ll help make this year’s staycation your best holiday ever!
Obviously, as with any holiday, there is an element of travel involved. So, whether you’re road-trippin’ it, going cross-country on a train, or your setting sail on a mini sea voyage (Portsmouth to the Isle of White counts as a voyage, right?), then do so in comfort! Travel pillows or a neck pillow will make your long journey so much more bearable, while an eye mask and earplugs will help you block out any chit-chat going on when you’re trying to take a nap! And lastly, ensure you can capture every moment of your holiday while keeping your phone safe with a waterproof phone pouch. It comfortably hangs around the neck so you can capture lifelong memories no matter the activity you’re doing.
