It’s official, latte makeup is having a moment on socials and we’re totally here for it. If you’re unfamiliar with the TikTok trend that’s captured the attention of beauty gurus and celebs alike, allow us to shed some light on this coffee-centred craze. In a nutshell, latte makeup involves applying rich espresso, caramel, tan or taupe shades on the eyes, cheeks and lips to create a look inspired by (yep, you guessed it) a latte. Using a few beauty staples (think bronzer, highlighter and a neutral eyeshadow palette) you can create a sultry Summer look that’ll take you to the coffee shop all the way to the bar – espresso martini, anyone?
Step 1: Bronzed base
The key to any makeup look is creating the perfect canvas, so you’ll want to start by cleansing your face and applying your usual skincare routine – don’t forget to moisturise!
Next, apply a hydrating primer to ensure your makeup stays put all day.
Apply a few pumps of tinted moisturiser or foundation and blend it in using either a damp beauty sponge or buffing brush for a seamless finish.
Using an angled makeup brush, apply a powder contour across your hairline, jawline and cheekbones to sculpt the face. You can then blend it in using the same tool you applied your foundation with.
To keep things latte-related, avoid opting for red/pink-toned blushes, instead opt for peachy shades to create a natural flush.
Using either a kabuki or fan brush, apply bronzer across your cheekbones and forehead to bring warmth to the face.
For a super sun-kissed look, add some faux freckles by dotting a black/brown eyeliner pen across the tops of your cheeks and nose.
Complete your base by applying a caramel-coloured highlighter across the tops of your cheekbones and the tip of the nose using a fan brush.
Step 2: Espresso eyes
Sweep a medium-dark brown eyeshadow (cooler skin tones tend to best suit taupe shades whereas warmer, deeper skin tones look great with espresso shades) across the lid using an eyeshadow brush.
Using the same brush, run a darker shade of brown into the outer corner of your eye and through the crease and blend it out using a fluffy brush. This will help to bring dimension to the eye look.
To dial up the glam, apply a caramel/golden shimmer shade to the inner third of the eyelid as well as the inner corner of your eye.
To give the appearance of thick and full lashes, trace the lash line with a cocoa-coloured eyeliner pencil and use your finger to smudge it in.
Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler and follow it up by applying 1-2 coats of lengthening mascara.

Step 3: Brows that wow
No makeup look is complete without a pair of perfectly defined brows! To start with, use an eyebrow spoolie to brush through your brows. This will help to neaten them as well as highlight any sparse areas.
To define the shape, take an eyebrow pencil in your desired shade and draw on feathery, hair-like strokes in any areas that you’d like to appear fuller.
To blend the product in as well as set your brows in place, brush through your brows with a clear or coloured brow gel – whatever your preference!

Step 4: The perfect pout
To accentuate your lips, trace the outer edges of your lips with a rich, coffee-coloured lip liner that’s a couple of shades darker than your natural lip colour.
Apply a matte brown lipstick in a shade lighter than your lip liner.
Add some shine by following up with a creamy, caramel-coloured gloss to complete the latte look!
